We ventured into a
breeding program first of all wanting to produce good cow horses with
excellent pedigree. We researched the bloodlines of the best in the
business, now this was before the days of the internet, so as you can
imagine, research in those days was a little more laborious than it is
Anyhow research is what we did and we came to the conclusion that we needed to invest into the progeny of some of the legendary Quarter Horses.
We decided that we wanted our breeding program to have links to such names as Three Bars, Billy The Tough, Midnight, King P-234, Joe Hancock etc. So in 1969 we purchased Badger Kilobar, out of King Leo Bar and Rainy Badger, a daughter of Grey Badger II.
To extend our program further we joined a syndicate to buy Lynx West, again this kept us in the same bloodlines that we had previously researched, Three bars, Doc Bar etc.
Our Horses have the pedigree to accomplish greatness in all disciplines. They would be an excellent addition to anyone's breeding program, they can be trained for cutting, barrel racing, penning, roping, reining and they have the speed for racing too. You only have to look at the bloodlines to know that these fine animals are worth every cent and have superb potential, AQHA registered too.
We have horses of all colours, buckskin, sorrel, black, brown, bay, chestnut, cremello, palomino and we've even seen the rare silver gene that is now being found in Quarter Horses. For more information about our horses and their pedigree please go to our horses page where you can click on each individual horse or maybe you would like to contact us to request more information, maybe you have specific training requirements that we could assist you with.
Our horses would be ideal for riders of all disciplines, 4H, western pleasure, trail, ranch etc. Some of our horses have gone on to be barrel racers, team penning. In fact we are hoping to put a page online that is dedicated to horses that we have trained and sold, we would prefer to say "re-homed" rather than sold because all our horses are part of the family. So if you have one of our horses, please drop us a line and let us know how they have progressed.
So if you are looking for a Quarter Horse breeder in Alberta, Canada, drop us a line to enquire about our foundation bloodline horses. We can train them to your requirement, whether it's barrel, penning, roping, reining, trail, western pleasure, our horses are great cow horses.
JW's brand dates back to 1909 and has been used for Cattle and Quarter Horses ever since.
JW bought the brand in 1950 from Ernie G Green of Vermillion, Alberta, Canada.
People know when they see this brand on a Quarter Horse, it's good quality from a good bloodline. Legendary foundation bloodlines such as Doc Bar, Poco Bueno, Lightning Bar, Three Bars etc.
Our breeding program is as natural as can be. We pasture breed, so the stallion stays out on pasture with the broodmares and we let nature take it's course. Above you can see Filo's Sugar Bars (he's got Doc Bar in both sides of his pedigree) on the left and Nancy Lynx (she's got Three Bars twice on the top and King on the bottom) on the right.
We're considering having "buddy days" which means that people of all ages can come and spend some time with our horses, there will be instruction about grooming, saddling and riding. If you're interested, let us know.
We're also thinking of "city slicker" breaks, how many of you would be interested, drop us a line.
